# Prusa launches a new generation without asking owners to discard the old one

The XL+, CORE One L+ and CORE One+ Gen 2 add new hardware, while Prusa is also preparing upgrade paths for people who already own the previous machines.

Prusa has refreshed three printers, but the most interesting detail is not on the spec sheet. The company is also preparing upgrade paths for current XL, CORE One L and CORE One owners.[1](https://blog.prusa3d.com/better-prints-easier-use-prusa-xl-core-one-l-and-core-one-gen-2-our-big-product-update_137539/)

The new XL+, CORE One L+ and CORE One+ Gen 2 share several small changes aimed at removing friction before a print. All three get an integrated nozzle wiper. Prusa says it deliberately chose a standard, widely available part because it is a consumable and replacements should be easy to buy somewhere other than Prusa itself.[1](https://blog.prusa3d.com/better-prints-easier-use-prusa-xl-core-one-l-and-core-one-gen-2-our-big-product-update_137539/)

The XL+ also gets a Tool Offset Sensor that aligns toolheads during initial setup, high-flow nozzles and a redesigned cooling system. A chamber heater is planned, but Prusa explicitly says it does not have a shipping date for that part yet.[1](https://blog.prusa3d.com/better-prints-easier-use-prusa-xl-core-one-l-and-core-one-gen-2-our-big-product-update_137539/) That is the kind of caveat worth keeping in the sentence instead of magically turning a future component into an available product.

Assembled CORE One+ Gen 2 and CORE One L+ machines start shipping immediately. Assembled XL+ units are due later in August. A 3D printer is already a collection of parts that wear, move, need calibration and eventually get replaced. Treating a “new generation” as an upgrade branch for an existing machine rather than a disposable successor fits the object itself. It is less dramatic than a new shell. It is probably more useful on a workbench.
